Serene Singh is a prestigious undergraduate Boettcher Scholar (full-ride recipient) double majoring in Political Science and Journalism with a minor in Leadership Studies at the University of Colorado. Singh has held numerous prestigious titles in pageantry like Miss Colorado Teen 2016, International Junior Miss Colorado 2017, and most recently America's Junior Miss. As Colorado's youngest certified Speech and Debate coach, Serene works with low-income students across the nation to find their passion, improve their public speaking, and voice their cause. Her involvement in Speech and Debate has led her to win a national championship, three state championships, and the John Stennis Medallion for Congressional Debate Excellence. Four years ago, Serene founded the Colorado Bhangra Institute in order to teach and cultivate her love and vibrant energy for Punjabi dance. Serene is the Founder of The Serenity Project - a project that sets up a fashion show and a year-long pageant reign and modeling coaching service for girls who have persevered through disabilities, abusive relationships, bullying, foster care, severe body dysmorphia etc. The show highlights strong women and reminds society that true beauty comes from the inside and radiates on the outside. Serene's admiration for public service has not only led her to be awarded the prestigious titles of "Inclusive Advocate of the Year" by the University of Colorado's Student Government in the spring of 2017 and the Golden Achievement in Volunteer Service Award (highest honor awarded to a pageant contestant at the national level) in November of 2017. In addition to her outstanding service, she has been given the distinct honor to be elected as Chief Justice for the University of Colorado's Appellate Court, President of the Sikh Student Association on her campus, a member of the Presidents Leadership Class, an intern for the United States Senate, and an alumni for the prestigious United States Senate Youth Program. Singh volunteers much of her time working with Opportunity Nation in order to help immigrants from South Asia transition into American society and American schools. As a proud Sikh American, Serene is the Youth President of Colorado Sikhs and recently began fielding research in Canada and in the United States in order to better understand the ignorances surrounding those who attack Sikhs and how we can overcome biases and stereotypes in our community as a whole. In her free time, Serene enjoys video editing, modeling, and painting! Ultimately, Serene aspires to be appointed to the United States Supreme Court.
